    1. Kaoha Nui Marcos !

      Thank you for your message.

Well, I don't understand why you picked French Polynesia for fishing ?! BOUHAHAHA !!!!French Polynesia is a very baaaad choice ! BOUHAHAHA !!!!

As you've seen , French Polynesia is not that small. So you'll have to choose wisely your island.
Forget the main islands where fishing may not meet your expectations.

Since money is kind of an issue, I recommend you to look at the Tuamotu Archipelago.

Tuamotu archipelago is composed by several atolls, usually very fishy.
From now, I can not recommend you straight any of these atolls, simply because I don't have full experience with them. (Tikehau is an "old" renown atoll, but still very hot from what I can hear nowadays. But it's just an example among many others).

You can try to ask infos on french forum like http://www.exo-thonic.com/, in spanish or in english. I know that some polynesian locals are on this forum. My only advice will be to stay away from "big mouths on feet", like in every forums.

Usually small lodges or pensions have prices around : $70 to 100 per night (Maybe less if several nights booked) with breakfast included.
"Street food" prices are around $10 -15 per meal.
Stores products are not cheap (for example a Coke can will cost you at least $2). But you can still find cheap products if you're a fan of bad junk food.

Local air plane tickets are "cheaper" if bought in Tahiti but ... you'll have only 10 kg as regular luggage + 5 kg handbag. So I do recommend you to pay more for with "international" tickets that allow you 23 kg + 5 kg handbag. If you're using a travel agency service, you can also ask for the "special" tickets that allow you 50 kg + 5 kg handbag.

Prices for fishing boat : hard to tell.
You can find prices from $80 to 400 (even higher...) per day. From "simple locals" to official locals.

All in all, the trip will cost you a good amount of money.

Considering that most of the foreign anglers who tasted polynesian waters come at least a second time, maybe you could do the opposite option : take your time to put more money aside for a fully organised trip.

I'm not doing somekind of cheap advertising for MonsterfishExpeditions ( you can also find another new company which set operation in Australes Archipelago...google it). But I think that a fully and well organised trip is a good way to maximise your fishing and discovering in French Polynesia. When you just have to fully appreciate the fishing and the whole experience without any food or drinks or whatever typical problems, it's kind of "priceless". lol

Whatever your choice, I wish you a great fishing trip in our waters.

I hope I helped you a minimum Marcos. For more infos, feel free to contact me on my email : newjackburton@hotmail.com

      Tight lines !!!
